Financial Support
As a centre running staff, a kitchen, homework support, etc., we are always in need of financial assistance. This helps us finance our programs, but also will hopefully allow us to expand. Our goal is to be able to open every day of the week, and double our attendance by 2018.
How to Donate
- Through CanadaHelps.org
- By sending a cheque to:
The Door Youth Centre Jeuneusse
2-755 Somerset Street West, Ottawa, Ontario, K1R 7T1, Canada

Time Donations
We always welcome time donations: whether it be to teach, to supervise, or support. Learn more about our volunteering opportunities below.
Clothing Donations
The Door has a Clothing Room, where youth can trade and share clothing, teaching them about responsibility and helping them feel confident and well-dressed. We welcome all kinds of clothing in good condition.
We are currently stocked up with clothes; we will post a note indicating we need clothing when our stock gets smaller. Thank you!
How to Donate
Please please email The Door at info@thedooryouthcentre.com for details.
Item Donations
Our educational facilities require items such as computers, notebooks, writing materials, post-its, etc. If you are wondering whether we need something you’d like to donate, please contact us.
Other useful items are educational incentives, such as $10 gift cards from coffee shops or stores such as Dollarama.

Volunteer
Board / Opportunities / Educational Liasons
Volunteers are the backbone of any non-profit organization and we are no different. If you are interested in volunteering please email us at info@thedooryouthcentre.com along with your resume, and indicate the position you are interested in.
The following volunteers make our programming possible:
Board Members
Without these dedicated professionals, we would not be able to operate The Door. These people offer their time, their expertise and occasionally their services in order to make the youth centre the best place it can be.
High School Students
Given our demographics, the largest portion of our volunteer base is high school youth looking to do their 40 hours of volunteer work. We have a waiting list of youth looking to do their hours with The Door. We have found this to be particularly successful because the youth want to do their hours with us and feel like they have made a real contribution to the centre. It helps to promote their sense of ownership of The Door.
Community Service Order
We also make use of the Salvation Army’s CSO program quite regularly. All members who are referred to us are youth. We focus on positive integration and at the same time allowing them to complete their mandatory volunteer hours in a safe and positive environment. This program has been very beneficial for both parties.
University and College Student Placement
Given the type of services we offer, we are a natural resource for social service programs at colleges and universities. We rely on these sources to provide us with some more skilled volunteers while allowing the students to gain valuable experience. It is a win-win result for everyone!
General
These are the people who genuinely want to help out and give back to their community in whatever way they can. We can’t thank these people enough. They make the commitment to us and the youth really benefit from having them around.

Keeping our centre full is as important as keeping it staffed! We'd like more youth to hear about our centre, helping us to contribute more in our community through outreach and support. Here are some ways you can help us achieve this:
Print and Post
We've created some promotional material to help us spread our message and share what we offer. Please feel free to download and print these, and put them up on your wall, your counter, your streets, wherever!
